Tale 3 - Craig David has a lot to answer for!

My older children, Hannah and George, conned me into buying Spotify. Half the student population of Leeds now enjoy the service I provide for them.

As a payback, Hannah bought me a little device that plugs into my Fiat Panda cigarette lighter. This enables Bluetooth connection and my Spotify songs on my car  radio.

This initially caused much disgust to the Sassy Princess and the Prince of Tales. Instead of Capital Radio it was a journey back in time that they did not buy a ticket for. When every song came on I would shout "Banger!!" whilst the Sassy Princess shouted "Minger!!"

Slowly but surely, I noticed they were getting to like some of the songs. Wham is a favourite of the Prince of Tales who has the urge to sing loudly when "I'm your Man" hits the  airways. (Who doesn't let's be honest!)

The Sassy Princess is a little more refined, and "7 days" by Craig David is her favourite. She sings along, imitating Olivia Rodrigo. (For those that don't know, Olivia likes to sing songs about being dumped and how she hates her ex who seems to be having a great time without her, which cheeses her off!)

Yesterday, Craig David came on. The Prince of Tales listened carefully to the song and had a question.

"Dad. What is making love"?

The Sassy Princess smirked.

This was my chance to educate my children sensibly to help them understand sex and relationships. A great opportunity for a loving father.

Did I take it? Did I chuff!

"It means kissing."

The Sassy Princess looked at me and smirked. Her face said liar. What she thought it was I want to know, but thats for another time. Certainly she knows a lot less than she thinks she does.

The Prince of Tales went quiet. This is bad news. There was for sure a hard question or pearl of wisdom coming.

"So Craig and his girlfriend kiss all day Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday"?

"Yes" I replied.

"Wow. No wonder they chilled on Sunday. Her lips must be really tired after all that love making."

I looked in the mirror at the Prince of Tales. Was this sarcasm?? Not a flicker of emotion. The Sassy Princess innocently looked at me and said "He makes a good point."

I just stared forward, relieved when the song ended. Unfortunately Color Me Badd came on and "I want to sex you up"

I have now deleted any song on my Spotify that will result in the Prince of Tales asking questions. "I'm your man" is the only song left and on loop.

Keeps him busy

Have you ever told a white lie to your children that has backfired? If you have let us know below and share the smiles x
